The start-up of Uzbekistan GTL Plant, one of the largest projects in Central Asia, created opportunities to replenish the talent pool with promising young professionals. For this purpose, the Plant cooperates with local higher educational institutions in the field of personnel training.
In particular, as a result of interviews conducted between August 2022 and March 2023, 25 graduates - from the Karshi Engineering and Economic Institute, 10 - from Tashkent State Technical University, 12 - from the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, and 9 - from different higher education institutions were employed at the Plant on a competitive basis.
The selection process run in the following 3 stages:
• Young students wishing to get a job registered at jobs.uzgtl.com and took an online test.
• Candidates who scored more than 75 percent in online tests, were invited to the next stages of the competition.
• Stages 2 and 3 were held offline by the Admissions Committee at UZBEKISTAN GTL Plant.
Over the past 7 months, more than 300 people took part in the 2nd and 3rd stages of the competition, with 28 of them getting hired.
In addition, in order to ensure implementation of Presidential Decree No. PP-309 “On measures to create a training and production cluster in the oil and gas industry”, the Plant arranged on-the-job training for students.
In December 2022, University students were selected on a competitive basis. Their on-the-job training is scheduled for 2023 at Uzbekistan GTL Plant and it is planned to conclude employment contracts and fix monthly salary for students who approved themselves. The students will be provided with 3 hot meals a day, special clothing and transportation within the Plant, and the most talented students will be hired under a temporary employment contract in July and August. For information, Uzbekistan GTL LLC was the first among manufacturing enterprises to implement this type of organization of student on-the-job training with remuneration in 2022, thus we can conclude that this approach produced the desired outcomes.
In total, in 2023, 263 3- and 4-year students are planned to participate in on-the-job training and pre-diploma internship. To date, more than 50 4-year students have completed their on-the-job training at the Plant.
